The Difference Between a Deep Cone Thickener And A Regular Thickener

Deep cone thickeners and regular thickeners are two common types of equipment in the mining processing industry. Thickeners separate solid particles from liquid in slurry through sedimentation, thereby concentrating the slurry and treating wastewater.

The difference between deep cone thickener and regular thickener

1. The features of the deep cone thickener

The deep cone thickener is a highly efficient thickening device. It is shaped like a vertical barrel cone, with the tank height greater than the tank diameter. The height of the pool accelerates the process of material settling and overflow water clarification. Deep cone thickeners have advantages such as small footprint, large processing capacity, high degree of automation, and energy saving. These characteristics have led to their widespread application in the high-concentration concentration of minerals in mineral processing plants. In addition, deep cone thickeners can also be used for the concentration of other slurries with fine particles and low density.

2. The features of regular thickener

Common thickeners include peripheral roller drive thickeners, peripheral rack and pinion drive thickeners, and center drive thickeners. Peripheral roller drive thickeners are suitable for processing large volumes of slurry with low product concentration. It is mainly used for the concentration of concentrates and the dewatering of tailings in mineral processing plants. It can also be used for the concentration and purification of liquids containing solid particles in coal, chemical, building materials and water and sewage treatment industries. Peripheral rack and pinion drive thickeners are suitable for processing large volumes of slurries with high product concentrations, and are characterized by their traditional design and high stability. Center-driven thickeners are generally used for thickening concentrates before filtration or for dewatering tailings. Thickeners above 12 meters are equipped with electric rake lifting devices. The cross rake frame operates smoothly and efficiently.
