Common Tailings Re-selection Equipment

The common tailings re-selection processes mainly include flotation, gravity separation, and magnetic separation. The equipment used in different tailings re-selection methods is also different. The commonly used tailings re-selection equipment are flotation machine, gravity separation machine, and magnetic separation machine.

1. Re-selection of tailings—flotation equipment

The flotation method is mostly used for difficult-to-treat tailings in tailings reselection. The commonly used flotation equipment is mainly the mechanical agitating flotation machine and aerated agitating flotation machine.

A. Mechanical agitated flotation machine

The mechanical stirring flotation machine uses a mechanical stirrer to realize the aeration and stirring of the slurry and belongs to the air self-suction flotation machine. In the process of tailings re-election, the intermediate product returns generally without sand pumping. Generally, mechanical agitation flotation machines mainly include SF flotation machines, JJF flotation machines, and BF flotation machines. SF type flotation machine and JJF type flotation machine are mostly suitable for roughing and sweeping operations of small and medium-sized tailings reconcentration plants. The BF flotation machine is mostly suitable for roughing and beneficiation operations in small and medium-sized tailings reconcentration plants.

B. Aerated agitating flotation machine

The aerated stirring flotation machine belongs to the external air supply type flotation machine. The flotation machine can be adjusted according to the needs of flotation. And it is not easy to produce a muddy phenomenon when processing brittle tailings. The aerated stirring flotation machine mainly includes the KYF flotation machine and XCF flotation machine, which are suitable for the separation of various metal and non-metal tailings. KYF flotation machines are most suitable for roughing and beneficiation operations in large and medium-sized tailings reconcentration plants. The XCF flotation machine is suitable for roughing and sweeping operations in large and medium-sized tailings reconcentration plants.

2. Re-selection of tailings—gravity separation

The gravity separation method is mostly used for the re-election of sand tailings containing rare metals. At present, the commonly used gravity separation equipment includes shakers, jigs, and spiral chutes.

A. Shaker

The shaker mainly uses the combined effect of the asymmetric reciprocating movement of the equipment and the thin-layer inclined surface water flow to force the material to be sorted according to the particle size. In the tailings re-selection operation, the shaking table is mostly used to process 2-0.02mm tungsten, tin, tantalum, niobium, and other rare metals and precious metal tailings.

B. Jig

In the tailings re-selection operation, the jigging machine is mostly suitable for processing coarse-grained leaching tailings over 3mm. The jig machine is to stratify the materials according to their specific gravity in a vertically moving variable-speed medium flow. The minerals with a small specific gravity are located in the upper layer, and the minerals with a large specific gravity are located in the lower layer. The layered materials are discharged separately by the action of machinery and water flow.

C. Spiral chute

The spiral chute is based on the difference in the specific gravity, particle size, and shape of the material, and the water flow speed in the chute is sorted according to the density under the action of the gravity and centrifugal force of the swirling flow. In the tailings re-selection operation, the spiral chute is often used to process gold, platinum, tin, tungsten, tin, and other rare metal sand tailings with a size of about -4mm.

3. Re-selection of tailings—magnetic separation equipment

In the process of tailings re-election, magnetic separation can be used for the tailings re-election and impurity removal of ferrous metals, non-ferrous and rare metals, non-metals, and other minerals. The magnetic separation equipment commonly used in tailings re-separation mainly includes wet magnetic separators and dry magnetic separators.

A. Wet magnetic separator

The large wrap-angle magnetic system of the wet magnetic separator can increase the length of the separation zone and the number of magnetic flips, and realize the separation of magnetic minerals and non- (weak) magnetic minerals in tailings. According to the structure of the tank, it can be divided into a co-current type, a counter-current type, and a semi-counter-current permanent magnet cylinder magnetic separator.

B. Dry magnetic separator

According to the different magnetic induction intensities, dry magnetic separators can be divided into dry weak magnetic field magnetic separators, dry medium magnetic field magnetic separators, and dry strong magnetic field magnetic separators. In the tailings beneficiation operation, it is mostly suitable for tailings reconcentration plants in severe water shortages and cold areas.

The above is the commonly used tailings reprocessing equipment. In the actual tailings re-separation process, the specific selection of beneficiation equipment needs to be determined according to the tailings pre-separation process. It is recommended to customize suitable tailings pre-separation process and equipment selection through the beneficiation test report to obtain ideal economic benefits.
